Like any space in your life, a kitchen is a highly personal space. Over the years is has evolved to serve many needs in addition to simply being the space were we store, prepare and serve our meals.

The best advice that I can offer for you if your stuff has outgrown your kitchen is this:
- Go through all of the cupboards and drawers and eliminate anything that you no longer need. Donate, recycle, consign or toss these items. Immediately so that they don’t linger.
- At the same time, eliminate anything that you really don’t use in the kitchen and place it in a better location. For example: tools, pet grooming, backpacks etc.
- Remove seasonal items that you use once a year and place them in a labeled container in another storage space.
- Identify what you do most in the kitchen and create a space for that activity, it is your kitchen and it only needs to work for you.
- Create zones for activities like kids lunches, baking, coffee station, small appliances. Store all items for these activities together so that you are able to complete tasks easily.
- Purchase containers and gadgets that allow you to see what you have easily like great spice racks, knife storage, can holders and baskets for travel cups and lids.
- Treat yourself to new matching sets of things to help you to love your space. i.e. food storage, drinking glasses and utensils if yours have seen better days.
